Chief Minister's task force to be formed to curb electricity theft
The chief ministers task force will have the support of the federal government
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab government on Tuesday decided to constitute a task force to curb electricity theft in the province.
The decision was taken during a high level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to review strategy on Prime Minister’s campaign to stop electricity theft.
Secretary level officer will head the task force on provincial level, while committees will also be formed on division and district level.
Divisional committees will be headed by Commissioners, while District Committees will be led by Deputy Commissioners.
The special committees will also include police officials of district level.
The chief minister’s task force will be supported by the federal government and concerned federal departments.
Earlier, on the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, anti-encroachment committees have been set up across the province and the deputy commissioner of every district will be head of anti-encroachment committees.
These committees will be responsible for planning and monitoring operations against land grabbers and encroachments on daily basis.
The members of the national and provincial assemblies, civil society and respectables of the concerned district will also be included in these committees.
Meanwhile, the chief minister had said that crackdown against the land-grabbers, illegal occupants and those encroaching on state properties will continue with any discrimination.
He said that street vendors, labourers and residents of slum areas will not be disturbed during the operation.
