Dr Faisal says opening of Kartarpur Corridor for Sikh pilgrims is conditional to dialogues

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal on Thursday said that no compromise would be made on national interest whether it’s the issue of Dr Shakeel Afridi or India.

Addressing weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, he said that opening of Kartarpur Corridor for Sikh pilgrims is conditional to dialogues with India, adding that nothing can happen if there are no talks between the two countries.

He, however, reiterated Pakistan s stance to hold talks with India to resolve all outstanding issues.

Pakistan is pursuing the policy of peaceful neighbourhood and dialogue is the only way forward to resolve issues and disputes between Pakistan and India, he said.

Dr Faisal said that International Court of Justice (ICJ) will conduct hearing of case pertaining to Indian spy Kuldbhushan Jadhav on February 18, adding Pakistan is completely prepared to contest its case in the ICJ.

The spokesman went on to say that 18 innocent Kashmiris have been martyred during this week by the Indian forces and Pakistan strongly condemned Indian agression in occupied Kashmir.

He said: “Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi represented Pakistan in the United Nations General Assembly session and presented message of peace and stability.”

Dr Faisal said that Pakistan is raising the issue of water and controversial projects initiated by India such as Kishanganga and Ratle, at all forums.

Referring to statements of Indian Army Chief about surgical strikes, he said head of a professional army should not make such claims.

Regarding China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, he said both Islamabad and Beijing are on the same page over this project.

Answering a question, he said bringing Afghan Taliban to negotiating table is shared responsibility of all countries.
