Pakistan Army Aviation rescues Russian mountaineer stranded on Latok Peak

The mountaineer has been shifted to Skardu for medical assistance.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Army Aviation, in a successful operation, rescued stranded Russian mountaineer on Latok Peak in Karakoram range today (Tuesday).



According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Russian mountaineer Alexander Gukov was trapped at 20,600 feet on Latok Peak. The officers carried out first operation of this kind in the country and saved Gukov’s life despite snow and cloudy weather.

The mountaineer has been shifted to Skardu for medical assistance.



Earlier, Canadian mountaineer Serge Dessureault, who was leading a nine-member team, allegedly fell to his death while attempting to climb the highest mountain of Pakistan K-2.

Three members of the international team were climbing high when Serge fell off a chimney house which was lying between the camp ll and lll into a ditch and yet not found.
