RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza contacted his Indian counterpart Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan on hotline.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), The DGMO raised the issue of Indian ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and targeting of civilian population during the contact.
Maj Gen Sahir Shamshad said that 219 innocent civilians embraced martyrdom by Indian firing this year. They also include 112 women and 20 children.
He conveyed that the Indian agression along the LoC is threatening peace and urged to respect the ceasefire arrangement.

On April 27, foreign office had summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Padhar Sector, resulting in the martyrdom of two innocent civilians and injuries to two others.
Director General South Asia Dr Muhammad Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement, investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
India was also pressed to permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
