Babar Ghauri has said that he is not joining any political party.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Babar Ghauri and Shamim Siddiqui quit from the party’s primary membership on Sunday citing personal reasons.
The former federal ministers, currently based in US, announced their disassociation separately. They moved abroad a few years back and were politically inactive.
Ghauri told that he is neither joining any other political party nor has ever remained a part of MQM-Pakistan. He said that he was a member of MQM-London and is now tendering his resignation.
After August 22, Babar Ghauri fell into a dispute with his party after raising the slogan of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ on social media. Moreover, he also apologized for violating party discipline later.
Ghauri has said that he remained silent after August 22 incident and waited for the matters to cool down however; he met with continuous non-serious attitude from the MQM-London leadership.
Ghauri has remained as the federal minister for ports and shipping, as well as a lawmaker in the provincial and national assemblies, and the Senate. He is accused of illegal deployments in Karachi port trust during his tenure as the minister.
