ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in a meeting of its core committee members on Wednesday decided that the party will not take part in the sit-in that is going to be organised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) outside Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s house in Raiwind in regards to the Panama Leaks revelations, reported Dunya News.
According to the details, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari presided the party’s meeting. Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Syed Khurshid Shah and Aitzaz Ahsan briefed Bilawal Bhutto over the Panama Leaks issue.
PPP leadership has decided on the formation of two committees; a political one, which will be tasked with holding consultations with all the opposition parties for the formation of a Parliamentary committee to probe Panama Leaks issue, while the legal committee will analyze the legal aspects of the issue.
Addressing the meeting, Bilawal stated that Panama Leaks has been a source of embarssement to the nation. He added that the government has failed to start an effective investigation into the issue despite promising. He further stated that no respectable Judge wants to be a member of the commission which has weakened the moral authority of the government.
According to sources, It was also decided that resignation of the Prime Minister will not be demanded until the investigation is complete and that the government will be given a tough time in regards to the issue. The party leadership also reprimanded Rehman Malik for meeting with government Ministers without prior approval by the party.
Bilawal Bhutto also dissolved all provincial and district groups of the party. Future strategy to be adopted by the party was also discussed in the core committee’s meeting.
