ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Opposition parties including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have demanded to summon National Assembly session to discuss issues pertaining to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatisation and prices of petroleum products, Dunya News reported.

Earlier today, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi visited Opposition Leader Khurshid Shah’s residence to discuss country’s political situation.

Both also agreed to submit a requisition to summon the National Assembly meeting to discuss the prevailing issues.

The opposition parties are of the view that recent reduction in petroleum prices is a ‘joke’.

The government on February 1 slashed prices petroleum products by Rs 5 per litre but the decision was unexpected as the oil prices saw visible decline in the international market.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had proposed Rs 7.56 per liter reduction in the petrol price.

Members of the opposition parties also stressed that National Assembly session should be summoned to discuss other key issues including PIA’s privatisation.

In this regard, a joint requisition will be submitted today.
