Summary Poverty cannot be eliminated without curing the diseases of ailing poor, said PM
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that the National Health Insurance Program will be launched in phases, reported Dunya News.
According to details, PM was chairing a meeting on of National Health Insurance programme in Islamabad. The meeting reviewed the status and progress made in regard to finalisation and launch of National Health Insurance. The meeting was also attended by Ms Saira Afzal Tarar, MOS for National Health Services, Dr Ms Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Dr Musadik Malik, SAPM and senior officials of the government.
The PM said that the program should be executed in phases to filter out deficiencies, if any, during the implementation stage. He said that an awareness campaign is necessary so that the people are fully aware about the programme and nature of diseases covered under it.
Nawaz Sharif also directed the concerned officials to ensure an effective execution and monitoring of this crucially important health initiative. He said that the program is aimed at providing free treatment for the poor who are unable to pay for the medical treatment. "Poverty cannot be eliminated without curing the diseases of ailing poor", stressed the PM.
