LAHORE (Dunya News) – Police personnel on Saturday nabbed guard of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Sarwar as weapons recovered from his vehicle in Lahore’s UC-211 during polling for local government elections.
According to initial details, as many as two police officers have been deployed at the security for Chaudhary Sarwar.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued directives, forbidding display of arms licensed or non-licensed on October 31 and November 1 whereas section-144 was also imposed to ban pillion riding in both provinces.
The district governments strictly ordered law enforcement agencies to launch stern action against the violators in case of trampling electoral code of conduct.
Army troops were called in by the civil administration to maintain law and order situation in sensitive districts. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the troops will assist law enforcement agencies when and where required.
