Supreme Court has resumed the hearing of identical petitions challenging some clauses of 18th amendment on Thursday. A 17-member bench under the head of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing the petitions. During the hearing, Federations counsel Barrister Bacha said that Musharraf could be prosecuted under Article 6 of the Constitution upon which Justice Jawwad Khawaja ordered that the court should be told that who is hindering the retired generals trial. Barrister Bacha said that there is no basic structure of the Constitution and as such it could not be said that the 18th amendment has changed the basic spirit of the countrys most important document. He contended that to question the powers of the legislators is equal to deprive the Parliament of its powers.
