Summary Hurriyat leaders are expected to meet Sartaj Aziz in New Delhi on March 23.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Friday) decided that Pakistan will make no compromise over its scheduled meeting with Kashmiri leaders ahead of NSA-level talks with India in New Delhi, sources told.
The meeting was also attended by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah has confirmed that Pakistan has received India’s formal message, advising Pakistan not to meet Hurriyat leaders.
He reported that Islamabad will respond to the message today.
Earlier on Thursday, the FO spokesperson had stated that inviting Kashmiri leaders for meetings and participation in various events hosted by our High Commission is a long standing practice. He said such meetings normally take place before talks between the senior officials of the two countries on various issues are held in Pakistan or India.
Pakistan is expected raise all important issues, including Kashmir, when Pakistani National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz meets his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval on August 24.
Aziz is expected to meet Hurriyat leaders shortly after he arrives in Delhi on August 23.
