Summary Govt in position that it would wholeheartedly support Saudi govt if borders attacked, says analysts

LAHORE: (Daily Dunya) – It seems that the government has given commitments to Saudi government about its troops going in to Saudi Arabia, defence analysts said while talking to Daily Dunya on Tuesday. They said that Pakistani government currently seems to be in a position that they would wholeheartedly support Saudi government in case Saudi borders were attacked but Pakistan should try to resolve the matters diplomatically, reported daily Dunya.

Talking to Daily Dunya, defence analysts said that 99% of Pakistani political parties had opposed sending troops to Saudi Arabia. Moreover, Pakistan needs its troops on ground at the moment, they opined.

General (r) Naseer Akhtar said that Pakistan should help Saudi Arabia and is in a position that it can help Saudi Arabia but she should try resolving the matter diplomatically.

Major General (r) Rai Mubashar said that Pakistan should not involve itself into a foreign matter fundamentally. He said that it was a delicate matter and personal interests should not be toed in such a situation. He said that Pakistan should look at its own national interest. However, he said, we are in a position to given Saudi Arabia the military support that it needs on ground, on sea and in the air. “It seems that the government has already committed and bringing the matters to the fore now”, he said.

Commenting on the joint session’s proceedings, Rai Mubashar said that Defence Minister Khawaja Asif shouldn’t have behaved in the manner that he did. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif denied the reports that he had taken a notice of his behavior. “It is clear that he liked Khawaja Asif’s attitude. It would have been better if he had not denied the report”, he added.
