Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 26 projects including the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam of worth Rs 9.77 billion in its meeting. The meeting of the executive committee was presided over by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin. After the meeting, Minister for Information and Broadcast Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam would help overcome the energy crisis in the country. Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said 4,500 mw electricity would be produced from the construction of the dam and water would be available for the irrigation of 3 million acre extra land. Another project of worth Rs 6.30 billion has been approved to make the land records computerised in Punjab.
