Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen says that he is helpless on the sugar crisis, adding that seeking help from the friend countries is a shame. He opined that economy would have to stand on its feet to get rid of loans. He was talking to media after addressing a conference organized by Institute of Charted Accountant in Karachi. He said that efforts were underway to increase the countrys ability to pay back loans and taking money supply to US$1 billion per annum. He claimed that the current sugar prices in the country were lower than the international prices. The minister maintained that government would establish its strategic reserves to bar hoarding. Tareen recommended that Auditor General Pakistan should take action on the sugar and electricity crisis.
