(Web Desk) – In a video shared on social media on March 16, 2025, an individual posing as a soldier claimed to have resigned from the armed forces after allegedly witnessing oppression against civilians.

In the video, he further claimed to have killed 12 civilians on the orders of his officers. As expected, the footage was widely circulated by social media activists (SMAs) associated with the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and Baloch separatist groups. These groups also alleged that the individual was later assassinated by intelligence agencies for his statements.

However, a day later, SMAs challenged this narrative, pointing out that the original footage was first shared on TikTok by Parachinar News. Additionally, forensic analysis confirmed that the video was AI-generated and that the individual himself was not real.

Misuse of police constable’s image

It was later revealed that the person shown in the video was actually a police constable who had been injured in an unrelated accident and was undergoing medical treatment.

The constable shared a video to confirm he did not die and that he had no link to the viral footage. Moreover, his (the injured constable) picture was taken at the time when he was being taken to hospital. Later, it was cropped to fit it for propaganda.

AI-based Editing

When one sees the pictures and compare them, the one with full-grown beard is a real one while the other is less dense beard on chin.

It is done with AI-based morphing tools where pre-existing image is edited for the purpose of fake facial expression.

Crying Filter Used Badly

There is crying filter in the video. One makes this astoundingly wrong is the absence of tear flow and static facial expression (especially in cheeks and forehead).

When AI Proves Its Fakeness

AI detection tools point out that the footage was edited using filters and an overlay of another person’s picture to hide the actual identity and misguide others.
