'Taali' web series star Sushmita Sen impresses as a transgender activist
(Web Desk) - With its stirring trailer, Sushmita Sen's new web series "Taali" has gone viral online, presenting the celebrated actress's depiction of transgender campaigner Shreegauri Sawant.
Shreegauri Sawant's metamorphosis into a mother and her tenacious fight to get the third gender recognised in official papers throughout India are both highlighted in the teaser, which the actor and the film's creators shared.
Sen's captivating screen presence captivates viewers from the very first scene, making them empathise with unpleasant circumstances.
Sen gives a fierce performance as the unyielding Shreegauri Sawant, facing challenges head-on from her desire to have children since she was in elementary school to her physical transition from Ganesh to Gauri and finally, her acceptance within the transgender community, which culminated in a Supreme Court battle for rights.
Sushmita Sen shared the teaser on her social media platforms, captioning it, “Gauri aa gayi hai. Apne swabhimaan, sammaan aur swatantrata ki kahaani lekar. Taali - Bajayenge nahi, bajwayenge! Taali on JioCinema, streaming free from August 15 onwards.”
Beginning on August 15, JioCinema will show "Taali," which was directed by National Film Awards winner Ravi Jadhav. The show dives into the remarkable life of Shreegauri Sawant, illuminating her challenges, victories, and the ongoing fight for respect and acceptance for the transgender community.
