ISLAMABAD/MUMBAI (Dunya News) – The political fraternity of Pakistan paid tribute to the Indian beloved singer Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday.
As the final rituals of the demised singer were completed and the Indian government announced to observe a two-days grief in the memory of the late singer, the Pakistani politician could not help paying tribute to the legend of the Indian sub-continental music, Lata Mangeshkar.
The final rituals ceremony of the late singer was attended by many celebrities from all walks of life including Prime Minister India Narendra Modi, Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Aasha Bhoslay, Ranbir Kapoor and many others.
On the death of the beloved singer, many Pakistani politicians including PM Imran Khan, Shehbaz Sharif, Bilalwal Bhutto, Fawad Chaudhry and Usman Buzdar paid homage to the legendary services of the deceased singer.
Prime Minister Imran stated it in a Tweet that the death of late singer is a irreparable loss of Indian subcontinent. People all across the globe know Lata and her songs are listened world wide.
President Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif mentioned in a tweet that people of my generation grew listing Lata’s song. Her beautiful voice influenced generations and she will be remembered.
Pouring in condolence on the death of Indian singing queen, Lata Mangeshkar, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said that the deceased singer has been spreading magic of her voice all over the world. She was the identity of the Indian subcontinent. Her death undoubtedly has left many in grief.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that people who know and understand Urdu around the world, know the intensity of the loss that took place by the death of Lata Mangeshkar. Lata will be remembered for the magic of her voice.
Lata Mangeshkar passes away at 92
Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away today at the age of 92. She was admitted to a city hospital in early January this year, after she tested positive for Covid-19 and was also diagnosed with pneumonia. Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the ICU with mild symptoms and was recovering slowly.
As per Indian media, the singer was taken off the ventilator, after she showed slight signs of improvement. However, on February 5, her condition deteriorated and she was back on ventilator support. Since her condition was critical, the veteran singer was put under aggressive therapy and was tolerating the procedures before her unfortunate demise.
Lata Mangeshkar was lovingly referred to as the ‘Nightingale of India‘. She stepped into singing at the age of 13 and recorded her first song in 1942. In her career spanning seven decades, she has to her credit over 30,000 songs in different languages. Lata Mangeshkar had been the voice behind popular tracks like ‘Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai’, ‘Raam Teri Ganga Maili’, ‘Ek Radha Ek Meera’ and ‘Didi Tera Devar Deewana’ to name a few.
Lata Mangeshkar was bestowed with the Padma Bhushan, third-highest civilian award in 1969, the Padma Vibhushan, second-highest civilian award in 1999 and the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna in 2001. She was also conferred with France’s highest civilian award, ‘Officier de la Legion d’Honneur’ (Officer of the Legion of Honour) in 2009.
She was the oldest of the siblings, Meena Khadikar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
