Bollywood #MeToo - Bigwigs extend support to Tanushree Dutta for naming and shaming 'Nana Patekar'

Bollywood bigwigs also reacted and showed their concern this latest commotion in B-Town.

(WebDesk) - Former Bollywood actor Tanushree Dutta back in 2008 leveled a charge of sexual harassment against a giant of India Film Industry and a senior male artist but hadn’t disclosed the identity.

Recently, in an interview given to an Indian local entertainment channel Tanushree exposed the harasser which happened to be none but the quite known and infamous misogynist Hindi and Tamil Film senior actor Nana Patekar.

A many of stories of Nana Patekar’s abusive behavior and molestation of female artists had been often escalated in past but due to his influential position among Bollywood actors, directors and filmakers - and a typical male-chauvinistic attitude of B-Town for year and years, none of the publication couraged to promote such stories.

Tanushree Dutta named not only the fellow co-star Nana Patenkar and others who aided him were Producer Sami Siddiqi,Director Rakesh Sarang and choreographer Ganesh Acharya . She said that Nana loudly expressed his wish to do an intimate sequence with her on sets however it was supposed to be a solo sequence. Nana asked choreographer and director to let Dutta learn what she has to do. She was shocked to know then the demand of the senior artist to have an intimate sequence with her.

After such shocking revelation, many of the celebs and people in general instead of demanding a probe over such allegation, started bashing and mocking the female actor until a journalist came up in support of Tanushree Dutta and explained the whole occurrence as it happened as an eye witness of the upheavel.

Janica Sequira in her series of tweets unveiled the actual event and unfold what was happened that day. According to the female journalist, the incident took place on the sets of ‘Horn OK please’ shooting where Dutta was supposed to do an item song. After the journalist took to the twitter to express the incident as it happened then on set in support of former Bollywood Diva Tanushree Dutta.

Many of the bigwigs also reacted and showed their concern over this latest commotion in B-Town. Bolly wood extend their support to another victim of sexual harassment of Indian glam world at the hand of a veteran and heavyweight of Film Industry Nana Patekar.

While another Bollywood Bigwig Mr. Amitabh Bachchan refused to comment on the controversy that has stirred a storm in the industry, other celebs like Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha and others have come out in open supporting the former actress

In the same interview, Tanushree also exposed another director Vijay Agnihotri who told her to remove her clothes and give the lead actor Irrfan Khan cues, but Khan immediately refused such insistence of director and expressed displeasure over such ridiculous demand.

After the Bollywood broke their silence in support of the artist, many took to twitter and appreciate the courageous and audacious move to support naming and shaming of wrong-doer.

Responding to these accusations, recently, Nana Patekar finally broke off the silence and laughed on the allegations. He said, "What does she mean by sexual harassment? We were on the set and there were 200 people sitting in front of us.”

According to him, he could not have done anything like that as the entire crew was on the set of the film. He even went on to say, “Let anyone say anything. I will continue to do in my life what I have been doing."
