Dangal has stolen several other records while Forbes placed the movie on number five.

(Web Desk) – Bollywood Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s spokesperson has refuted the rumors that claimed Dangal has earned 2,000 crores, reported NDTV.

"We have been reading a lot of reports saying that Dangal has crossed 2,000 crores worldwide. Just to set the record straight, we want to clarify that Dangal’s official worldwide gross collection figure as of Thursday is 1,864 crore," said Aamir’s spokesperson in a statement.

Dangal has stolen several other records while Forbes placed the movie on number five in the list of highest earning non-Hollywood films in the world.

"We are very happy that our film has been so successful, and what is of most value for Aamir Khan and the entire team of Dangal is the immense love the film has got from the audience across the globe. We are looking forward for the film to release in other untapped territories to reach more audience," Aamir’s spokesperson said.

Dangal, a wrestling drama based on the true story of an Indian coach who trained his two daughters to become champion grapplers, was released in India on December 23 last year and quickly became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time, beating the 2014 science fiction film "PK", which also stars Khan.

Gender discrimination and strict parenting are among the film’s themes. The issues appear to have struck an emotional response with Chinese viewers, who have alone contributed around $190 million to "Dangal’s" takings, said Bala.
