Youm-e-Ashur observed with solemnity amid tight security

Processions were taken out in all small and big cities across the country and congregations (Malais) were organised where homage was paid to the great sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The nation observed Youm-e-Ashur, the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), with religious fervour and devotion on Friday amid strict security arrangements.

Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), his 72 family members and companions embraced martyrdom at Karbala on 10th Muharram for upholding justice, truth, righteousness and piety.

Processions were taken out in all small and big cities across the country and congregations (Malais) were organised where homage was paid to the great sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala. Ulema and Zakireen highlighted the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of Karbala tragedy.

In Lahore, the main Zuljinnah procession, started from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate on Thursday night. The procession passed through its traditional routes, including Imambargah Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Mubarik Haveli, Chowk Nawab Sahib, Koocha Qazi Khana, Imambargah Maulvi Feroze Ali, Koocha Miskeenan, Mohalla Pir Gillanian, Imambargah Syed Rajjab Ali Shah, Chauhatta Mufti Baqir, Chowk Kotwali, Kashmiri Bazaar, Sunehri Mosque, Dabbi Bazaar, Gumti Bazaar, Sayd Mittha Bazaar, Tehsil Bazaar, Bazaar Hakimaan, Uchi Mosque and Bhaati Chowk, and culminated at Karbala Gamay Shah on Friday evening.

After conclusion of the procession, faithful observed Shaam-e-Gariban where Zakireen highlighted the significance of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The main procession of Ashura in Karachi passed through M.A. Jinnah Road, Tibet Center and its fixed route and ended at Imambargah Hussainiya Iraniyan in Kharadar.

The main procession of Ashura in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi was taken out from Imambargah Colonel Maqbool.

The administration made stringent security arrangements for the main procession and thousands of police personnel were deployed on the route of the procession.

Walk-through gates were installed at the entry points of processions. The processions were also monitored with the help of CCTV cameras.

Several processions were taken out from various areas of Peshawar on Youm-e-Ashura. The main procession started from Imambargah Syed Ali Shah Rizvi which reached its destination after passing through a designated route.

In Quetta, the main procession of Ashura started from Shuhada Chowk Alamdar Road and it passed through traditional route of Toghi Road, Meezan Chowk, Liaquat Bazar and returned at Maghrib to Alamdar Road through Junction Chowk, Prince Road, Mekangi Road, Nuriyasin Street.
