Police officials said that the real cause of death will be revealed after the postmortem.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A six-year-old seminary student succumbed to his head injuries 40 days after being admitted to hospital.

The boy identified Hassan was allegedly beaten by his teacher in Pir Aziz Brohi Goth. On December 1, a madrasa teacher in the Manghopir Aziz Brohi Goth area of Karachi subjected him to torture and hit his head with a stick which proved fatal.

Hospital sources said that the child's heart, brain, and lungs had stopped working. The child's father alleged that his son died due to a blow to his head.

Police had registered a case and arrested the teacher, but later he was granted bail.

On the other hand, police officials said that the real cause of death will be revealed after the postmortem.

Recalling the ordeal, Habibur Rehman, the father of Hassan, said the minor boy was initially admitted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and was discharged after a few days.

When his condition worsened again a few days later, Hassan was readmitted to the hospital, his father said.

He was later moved from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to the National Institute of Child Health, where he died while receiving treatment, said his father.

“My son’s lungs had stopped functioning,” his father said, quoting doctors.

Rehman said his son had suffered a head injury and had not recovered since then.
