Multan Sultan beat Islamabad United by 6 wickets.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Multan Sultans pulled off victory against Islamabad United by six wickets in the 29th game of the seventh edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL 7) on Sunday at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

United set 106 runs target which is also the lowest target of the ongoing edition of PSL 7. Sultans pulled off the target in the 17th over to secure their 9th PSL 7 victory.

Islamabad United took a brilliant start in the bowling when Liam Dawson claimed three early wickets and Zahid Mahmood claimed another. United seemed to be at a stronger position in the game as the top order of Sultans was wrecked until the skipper Mohammad Rizwan along with David Willey resisted against the United’s bowling attack and piled up a partnership of 68 runs and sailed Multan Sultans to the victory.

Mohammad Rizwan scored 51 off 42 balls while David Willey made 28 off 32 balls.

For United, Musa Khan was the top scorer who remained not out at 26. Liam Dawson made an aggressive start and hammered 5 fours but was soon caught by Asif Afridi on short fine leg on David Wiley’s ball. He added 22 runs off 11 balls on the United’s scorecard. While six of the Islamabad United’s batters could not enter into double figures.

In the bowling, Imran Tahir and Asif Afridi took two wickets each for the Sultans.

Earlier, Islamabad United won the toss and elected to bat first against Multan Sultans.

Multan Sultans have been invincible throughout the tournament and they have clearly saved the top position in the play offs.
