LHC orders to suspend sale of sugar in Ramzan bazaars

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to suspend the sale of sugar in Ramzan Bazaars. The Court has ordered that sugar should be sold in the open market at the rate of Rs 85.

The LHC passed this order during the hearing of a petition against long queues in Ramzan Bazaars and fixing of food prices. The Law Officer informed the court that sugar shortage in the open market was caused by its sale in Ramzan Bazaars.

The court asked by which law was all the sugar sold in those Bazaars and asked for an audit report of the sugar procured on the court’s order.

The court remarked that the order had been violated and said that despite having ample time, the administration failed to control the prices and ensure the supply of sugar. LHC ordered that sugar will be sold in the open market at Rs 85 per kg.
