PM Nawaz, COAS discuss Karachi operation, national security

Army Chief met with Prime Minister Nawaz at the PM House in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Rahaeel Sharif on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad and discussed country’s security situation, ongoing targeted operation in Karachi, rehabilitation work in FATA and the recent visit of US National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

According to sources, the Army Chief informed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that operation Zarb-e-Azb has entered last phase and rehabilitation process of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) will begin after completion of the operation.

The meeting decided to continue targeted operation against extortionists, terrorists and their facilitators till its logical conclusion.

General Raheel Sharif also briefed the premier regarding his recent meetings with the US National Security Advisor and German Foreign Minister, sources told.

Matter pertaining to Afghan peace process was discussed as well.
