Zero tolerance policy to be adopted against terrorism: COAS
Operation by USAF and Afghan forces is also progressing with full force, said COAS.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)— Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif said that operation Zarb-e-Azb will continue till the menace of terrorism is rooted out from the country. U.S. Air Force (USAF) and Afghan forces have assured their full support. The operation carried out by USAF and Afghan forces against Taliban is also moving ahead successfully.
During the session of Parliamentarians in Prime Minister House Islamabad, COAS Raheel Sharif briefed that the army has launched different operations against the terrorists. Zarb-e-Azb and Operation Khyber-1 are continuing successfully. Army Chief told the members of the Parliament that the operation will continue till the threat of terrorism is wiped out from the country and therefore, strict laws and effective measures are required.
According to General Raheel Sharif so far 2100 terrorists have been killed in the operation, however, 190 soldiers have been martyred.
He informed that the operation by USAF and Afghan forces is also progressing with full force.
Measures are required against unregistered madrassas and fundamental amendments should be made in the Anti-terrorism laws. General Raheel Sharif said that a stern message should be conveyed to the foreign elements involved in the terrorism. Present during the conference were DG ISI, DG Military Intelligence and other officials.
