Imran Khan visits Bannu, says IDPs will not be left alone
PTI Chief inaugurates the Chief Minister Complaint Cell in Bannu, asks for more aid
BANNU: (Dunya News) Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan visited the camps of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) today in Bannu. He inspected the situation in the camps and also expressed his concerns over the conditions the IDPs were living in. While talking to the Jirga of Tribal representatives, Imran said that initially it was communicated to the KPK Government that the IDP count would not exceed one hundred thousand but the number has exceeded seven hundred thousand so far, due to the operation Zarb-e-Azb. He said that migration of people from North Waziristan Agency has caught the KPK government by surprise as it had not made preparations for such a large number of IDPs.
He also met the advisors on Tribal areas during his visit. He said that it is extremely difficult for anyone to leave his home behind and live in camps like the way the IDPs were living nowadays. He said that KPK government is well aware of the difficulties that the IDPs are facing and said that arrangements are being made for minimizing the sufferings of the IDPs in these camps. He said that KPK Government and PTI will not leave their internally displaced brothers from NWA alone under any condition. “We know the problems they are facing and we will surely do whatever we can to make them feel at home”, said PTI Chief.
Imran Khan also reiterated his complaint before the tribal representatives and advisors that the government had not taken PTI on board before launching the operation. “We never thought that the exodus would be so massive”, said Imran. He said that NGOs and international donors would be asked to donate for the IDPs as it is fast developing into a human tragedy and massive amount of money is required to help these IDPs in these camps and later during the rehabilitation stages. He requested the government to allow foreign NGOs to visit the camps.
He again said that KPK government will not shy away from its responsibilities towards their brethren from North Waziristan. “We will fulfill our duties under any condition and will also urge the federal government to fulfill the duties on its part”, said Imran Khan. Imran Khan also inaugurated the Chief Minister Complaint Cell in Bannu. This complaint cell will help the IDPs to register their complaints and issues with the government and prompt action will be taken on their complaints.
He said that the provincial government will set up more camps for the IDPs and reassured the tribal leaders that PTI s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa will spend whatever sum would be required for betterment of the IDPs in their camps and later when the rehabilitation process starts.
