Nawaz, Karzai meeting underway in Kabul

The meeting particularly focuses on Afghan peace and reconciliation process.

KABUL (Web Desk) - Talks between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Afghan President Hamid Karzai have started at the Presidential Palace in Kabul.

The two leaders‚ assisted by their delegations‚ are discussing the entire gamut of bilateral relations with special focus on Afghan peace and reconciliation process. 

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is accompanied by Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and other officials. Member National Assembly‚ Mahmood Khan Achakzai is also accompanying the Prime Minister.

It may be mentioned here that a week ago PM Nawaz met a visiting delegation from the Afghan High Peace Council, which is seeking to open negotiations with the Taliban who have fought US-led NATO and Afghan forces since 2001.

As part of his vision of a peaceful and prosperous neighbourhood‚ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stressed the importance of close‚ cooperative relations with all of Pakistan’s neighbours.
