Chinese man who saves hopeless people from death
Chen Si dissuaded people from committing suicide for 13 years, has so far saved 300 lives
BEIJING: (Web Desk) – Chinese is considered one of the most developed nations in the world and they’ve earned this status. Every person in China is a devout worker. However, the ratio of suicides is increasing in the country due to extreme workload stress. These hopeless people generally commit suicide by jumping off high buildings or from bridges. The bridge made on Nanjing Yangtze river in 1968 was also one such bridge which was used by hundreds of people every year to commit suicide. According to one estimate, over 2000 people have committed suicide by jumping off this bridge since 2006.
But according to media, a person in the same area has also taken up the mission to dissuade people from taking their own lives. 48-year-old Chen Si is from a village called Saukiyan. He spends every holiday on this bridge patrolling it throughout on his motorbike, in order to save people from committing suicide. Chen Si has so far dissuaded over 300 people from committing suicide during the last 13 years of his service, according to media reports. Whenever someone tried to jump off the bridge, Chen Si goes to him and tries to talk him out of the idea. He helps him get away from the despair and offers him to stay with him too. Chen Si says that most people who come to the place to commit suicide are from other cities or villages, and are forced to this act only out of stress and hopelessness.

Chen Si told that he had also come from his village with huge dreams to this city but soon was won over by desperation. In that moment of hopelessness, he came to this bridge to commit suicide but some kind man stopped him and convinced him not to commit suicide. The Chinese said that he felt great when he saved someone’s life. “I feel like I’ve saved myself, because at one time I was among them too”, he said.
