The motions stated that the premier lied to the nation in NA session held on May 16.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday has submitted privilege and adjournment motions under rule 109 of Rules of Business against Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif in National Assembly’s Secretariat.

According to details, both motions having signatures of 20 PTI leaders including Imran Khan, Murad Saeed, Ameer Ullah Marwat were presented by Shireen Mazari, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Munaza Hassan and Arif Alvi.

The motion stated that: “This is the issue of the Prime Minister lying in the floor of the House on May 16 when speaking on the panama leaks issue in NA.

One: The PM stated that the flats in London were purchased from the proceeds of the sale of Gulf Steel Mill in Dubai. Hoever, according to the papers submitted by the PM’s lawyer to SC, on his behalf, Gulf Steel was totally bankrupt.

Two: The PM stated that he had all the documents to prove his case but his lawyer stated in SC that there were no documents to prove anything as there were no records kept at that time, since business was conducted on ‘parchis’.

Three: The PM made no mention of any Qatari link to the London flats owned by his children but then in the SC, the Qatari letter suddenly appeared.

Four: The PM’s lawyer stated that his client’s speech in NA was merely a ‘political’ speech thereby implying it was economical on the truth and should not be taken seriously. This completely trivializes the Parliament since it suggests the statements made by the PM on the floor of the House should not be taken seriously. As such it is no less than contempt of the Parliament.

Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khurshid Shah had also moved privilege motion against PM, terming his speech in NA as ‘non-serious’.

The privileged motion was signed by PPP leaders including Naveed Qamar and Shazia Marri.

On the other hand, Panama Leaks issue would be discussed in NA today at 4:00pm as PTI would return to assembly after two months.

Law Minister Zahid Hamid would present bill for the 25th amendment whereas Finance Minister Ishaq Dar would present second bi-annual report about implementation of NFC award.
