Meeting convened by PM expresses concerns over paper's 'fabricated' story

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Meeting presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and attended by Chief of the Army Staff has expressed concerns on Monday over an English paper’s report published last week claiming to have revealed the inside story of National Security Committee (NSC) meeting convened this month.
The reaction of the government has come nearly a week after a newspaper published an alleged fabricated story over matters involving national security that were deliberated upon in the last NSC meeting, attended by the outgoing army chief General Raheel Sharif among other dignitaries.
The Prime Minister has condemned the alleged irresponsible journalism today in the meeting.
The participants agreed that the story was in violation of universally accepted rules of reportage on matters that involved national security.
The premier among the attendees went as far as stating that the report had risked the national security. Print and electronic media was called for by the attendees to show high standards of reporting and do away with speculations.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, taking action in the matter, instructed authorities concerned to identify the persons responsible for stern action against them.
Besides the Chief of the Army Staff, the meeting was attended by Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence, Lt General Rizwan Akhtar among others.
Earlier today, the premier convened a meeting of ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz s Central Working Party during which he apparently responded to protest call of Imran Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf by saying that democracy allowed demonstrations but protesters should know the limits.

Imran Khan has instructed all party enthusiasts to reach Islamabad on October 30 to shut the federal capital down in bid to pressure the government to have Nawaz Sharif held accountable for his alleged unaccounted for wealth.
