Operation Zarb-e-Azb has broken backbone of terrorists: CM Punjab

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday has said that Pakistan Army personnel have broken the backbone of terrorists through operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Lauding the efforts of Pak Army on the completion of two years of Zarb-e-Azb, Shehbaz Sharif said that peace has been attained in the region due to the operation against terrorists.
He said there is no place for militants and their facilitators in the country.
Tales of courage, valour and sacrifice would remain a legacy in history, he added.
Moreover, the minister further termed the martyrs as ‘heroes’ of the nation.
On the other hand, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif also expressed determination and stated that terrorist had been apprehended from every front and soon the terrorists’ identity and mission would be placed in the dustbin.
The mountainous region along the Afghan border used to be a key Taliban stronghold, with insurgents controlling all the major urban centers. But in June 2014, the government launched a massive military operation in North Waziristan and vowed to step up its efforts in the wake of a Taliban attack on a school in December that killed some 150 people, mostly children.
Since its launch, more than 4000 terrorists have been killed while more than 900 hideouts have been destroyed in the North Waziristan tribal region.
Earlier, Asim Bajwa said 142 cases were referred to 11 military courts, out of which, 55 cases have been decided and 87 cases are currently in process. So far, 31 hardcore terrorists have been convicted.
