Khan stated that Nawaz Sharif has no moral authority to stay as the country's Prime Minister

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif would have to go to jail if proven guilty in Panama leaks probe, Dunya News reported.

While addressing party s rally organised at the Charing Cross in Lahore last night, Khan said that the Prime Minister any longer has the moral authority to head the nation.

"Allegations against the PM have been proven in the Panama leaks", he said, adding that he would not step back from the promises he has made.

Khan directed party workers to get ready to stage a sit-in outside PM s residence in Raiwind. He also urged them to move to Faisalabad xoming week to attend a rally there. PTI chief said that PM Nawaz would be the first one to be accounted and that this is the time to strengthen country s institutions.

He said that Rs 11 billion were spent for construction of Raiwind estate, adding that the six camp offices of Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shehbaz Sharif were being operated on taxes payed by the people. He said that at least 2,700 policemen were deployed in Jati Umra for security of the Sharif family.

Khan reiterated that PTI would conduct a in Faislabad coming Sunday.

PTI leaders termed the present time a decisive and crucial phase for Pakistan. He said that the Prime Minister took onboard his younger brother, Shehbaz Sharif, to support him in Panama leaks investigation.

"PM s cheeks turn red whenever he is asked of accountability", he said.

Khan posed a question to his followers at the rally, "How can a country prosper if its leaders are corrupt?" He said that the Prime Minister would have to answer to the allegations against him as this was a democratic setup. He fears that PM Nawaz would inaugurate another motorway section out of confusion, he added.

Khan said that it was quite easy to make money while being part of the government.

He criticised federal ministers belonging to the ruling party, PML-N. Referring to Khawaja Asif, handling water and power portfolio, he asked who would cater to Rs 500 billion corruption done in WAPDA?

Khan said that nations do not develop by construction of roads and underpasses but through justice and equality. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz s workers would have to answer before Allah Almighty for why they supported a corrupt party. PTI leader forboded that the country would suffer badly if corrupt system was allowed to operate.

He stated that demanding accountability of the Prime Minister could change fate of the country. Khan said that he had closely observed the West and the people there have extraordinary expectations from their leaders. He said that United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister David Cameron was scrutinised by the British parliament after he was named in the Panama Papers.

United States (US) presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton had to resign as they were found involved in immoral activities, he added.

Khan said that he started his war against corruption 20 years ago. People are unaware of what is corruption and how it is being done on leader  parts, he added. PTI chief said that he had the opportunity of making billions of Rupees when Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) was under construction.

Talking about International Workers Day, Khan said that Pakistan faces huge level of poverty in current times, adding that in  new Pakistan  the workers would be given rights based on international agreements.

He said that our society has forgotten the labourers and that he should not allow the country to be looted on the basis of privatisation. PTI chairman stated that 1.5 million people lost their jobs in a span of two years. He would shift his focus to betterment of different villages once he is done with Panama leaks probe.
