Gujranwala train incident: 8 suspended including Controller Railways
The suspended persons will be presented with the charge sheet
LAHORE (Dunya News) – 8 Pakistan Railways employees including Controller Railways have been suspended on Saturday over the train accident that took place on July 2. The decision was implemented by Chief Executive Officer of the department in the aftermath of report by joint team of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Railways, reported Dunya News.
According to the notification issued by Railway Headquarters Lahore following have been suspended over their direct involvement in the incident:
Muhammad Fayaz, Grade-9, driver.
Shahid Mehmood Bhatti, Grade-5, assistant driver.
Personnel responsible indirectly for the incident have also been suspended. Their names are as follows:
Zahid Saeed, Grade 16, incharge of Control Center Railways, Lahore
Ahsan ul Haq, Grade-16, Section Superintendent
Allah Rakha, Grade 15, Deputy Chief Controller
Awais Akhtar, Grade 12, Section Controller
Muhammad Hanif, Mechanical Foreman Faisalabad
According to regulations of railways, the suspended persons will be presented with the charge sheet after which they will present their defence. Railways will decide next course of action after their replies.
It is pertinent to mention here that 19 personnel of Pakistan Army including the commander of an Engineering Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Amir Jadoon embraced martyrdom during the fatal train crash.
