Coordination between army and political leadership has strengthened democracy, the PM said.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said criticism of Pak Army’s role in the prevailing situation is unjustified as it is engaged in efforts to bring peace in the country.

The Prime Minister gave these remarks while chairing a consultative meeting in Islamabad.

The remarks came a day after former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari gave a fiery speech against political rivals and military leadership.

PM Nawaz remarked that anti-army statements would only encourage those elements who are out to destabilize Pakistan and create hurdles in the process of progress and development of the country.

He said coordination and harmony between the army and political leadership has strengthened democracy in the country.

He said this harmony has also been reflected in the decisions of All Parties Conferences in which both the leaderships finalized the national targets and this process must continue with same spirit.

The premier has stressed the need for national consensus in the critical phase of the ongoing operation against terrorism.
