Opposition members raised 'Go Imran Go' slogans, Khawaja Asif says PTI members have no shame

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Government and opposition member blasted Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) members on Monday as the latter returned to the parliament during the joint session of both upper and lower houses on the issue of Yemen conflict. While the opposition members, mainly from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) raised ‘Go Imran Go’ slogans, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the PTI members had no ethics, shame or self-respect, reported Dunya News.

Commenting on PTI’s return to the parliament, Khawaja Asif said that the people who continued calling this government, the Prime Minister, these assemblies as fake and rigged for eight months are sitting here today in this parliament. He requested Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to ask PTI members one-by-one whether they verified their resignations or not.

The house erupted with racket on this statement. Speaker continued to calm down the MNAs but in vain. MQM leaders staged a walkout protesting on PTI’s return to the house as its leader Dr. Farooq Sattar termed the session as unconstitutional. Reading out aloud the Article 64 of the constitution on this occasion, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that it was him who had to decide about the PTI’s resignations, not Khawaja Asif.

Speaking on this occasion, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said that when Speaker has solved the matters in a very adequate manner, does the defence Minister want by-elections on 34 seats in the country? “Can we afford a mini-election in the country under the current circumstances?” he asked. He said that the government members should be polite and it was the government that brought the PTI back into the parliament.
