Maulana Fazlur Rehman says that political unrest if not resolved can benefit some other forces.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)— Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman addressing the joint parliament session on Tuesday asked the speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq that why haven’t the resignations by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s members of National Assembly been accepted. Ayaz Sadiq responded that the resignations were not submitted in the presence of PTI MNAs and therefore, he was waiting for some conciliation regarding the matter since he wanted to make sure if the resignations were given with their consent. He said that in this regard whatever decisison is taken by the parliament would be accepted. It must be mentioned here that about 10 days ago, resignations of thirty one PTI MNAs were submitted in the chamber of National Assembly.

Fazlur Rehman said that political leadership of Pakistan has saved the country from a conspiracy. The Prime Minister will neither resign nor go on a leave, said Fazlur Rehman. He said that the country can’t be left at the mercy of anti-government protestors. It is the responsibility of the government to reasonably resolve the political unrest in the country and move forward, he said. Across history of Pakistan, democracy has been derailed several times and each time all the political parties have realized that the country has been propelled into darkness, he said. He warned that political unrest if not resolved would benefit some other forces. He said that all the mainstream political parties should lay down their lives to safeguard democracy in Pakistan. JUIF chief claimed that all the parties stand united for democracy and constitution. He said that rulers do make mistakes and it is the responsibility of the opposition to criticize the ruling party, adding that he also has some reservations regarding the governance of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but at this crucial time, he would rather neglect those and struggle for safeguarding the democracy.

Earlier, Mahmood Khan Achakzai said it is unprecedented in the country s history that all the political parties while rising above their political differences are on the same page for protection of the parliament and the constitution. He said other segments of society including judiciary and media are also supportive of this cause.

Achakzai said storming of the parliament by the protesters amounts to sedition and terrorism and the security forces should be given instructions to clear the area of these saboteurs. He asked the PTI and PAT to demonstrate sagacity and allow their supporters to go home.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said his party believes in the continuation of democratic system. He said a few thousand people today would not have dared to challenge the democratic system, had efforts been made to strengthen the system. He condemned attacks on the state buildings by the protesters, saying use of violence is not the appropriate way to get demands fulfilled.
