COAS was asked by the Govt to play facilitative role: DG ISPR

PM Nawaz Sharif had earlier stated in Parliament that COAS was asked by Imran and Qadri to mediate

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News, Web Desk) – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Bajwa has clarified in his tweet that government had asked Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to play his role as a facilitator in the current turmoil.

In a tweet by Major General Asim Bajwa, he said that:

 

Earlier today, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had stated in the Parliament House that the Chief of Army Staff was asked by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri to mediate.

Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan maintained in their speeches that Army Chief was asked by the government to mediate between the protesters and the government.

Clarifying the issue, DG ISPR said today that the government had asked Army Chief to play facilitative role for the resolution of the ongoing political issues during the meeting between Army Chief and Prime Minister.
