ROME (Dunya News) - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States has not yet received a response from Iran regarding its proposals, but Washington expects Tehran’s reply later today.

Rubio said that no country in the world wants Iran to possess nuclear weapons, adding that the United States cannot allow Iran to acquire nuclear arms under any circumstances.

He expressed hope that serious negotiations with Tehran would continue moving forward.

He also claimed that the United States Navy has blocked the route of 70 tankers heading toward Iran.

According to Rubio, Iran seeks control over the Strait of Hormuz, but control of international maritime routes by any single country cannot be accepted.

The US secretary of state clarified that the strikes carried out against Iran last night were not part of Operation “Epic Fury.”
