The mayor of the Maldives second-largest city Addu spoke of a total law and order breakdown Thursday, following a night of violence that saw police stations attacked and torched.Theres no law and order at all. Its a complete breakdown, Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodig told AFP by phone.Sodig said police were absent from the city streets, while troops from a nearby military base were focused on protecting Gan Airport -- a major conduit for foreign tourists travelling from the capital Male to luxury resort islands.With 32,000 residents, Addu City is the second-largest in the Maldives after Male.On the other hand, the wife and daughters of former Maldives president Mohamed Nasheed have fled to Colombo as violence worsens, a presidential spokesman in Sri Lanka and a family member told AFP Thursday.His wife and two children arrived and spoke to the president over the phone last evening, a spokesman for Sri Lankas President Mahinda Rajapakse, Bandula Jayasekera, told AFP.President Rajapakse was concerned over the safety of Mr Nasheed and his family.A family member in Male, who asked not to be named, confirmed the news, saying: They are in Sri Lanka...
