PM has proposed cutting more than 40 billion euros in spending
PARIS (Reuters) - French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou said on Monday he will seek a confidence vote from parliament on September 8 as he seeks to mobilise support for his unpopular government's budget, threatening more political uncertainty in the country.
Bayrou, speaking during a news conference ahead of what is likely to be a politically turbulent autumn, has proposed cutting more than 40 billion euros in spending, to the dismay of both the left and right opposition parties.
