Japan held a memorial ceremony to commemorate Hiroshima victims on 66th anniversary.
Every year the city honours the thousands who died by releasing hundreds of doves into the air, and observing a minutes silence.About140,000 people were killed and the city was flattened by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 1945 at the end of WWII.A deadly mix of shock waves, heat waves and radiation were released, devastating the city and its inhabitants. Sixty six years on, Hiroshima - now a very different place - marks the August 6th anniversary of the attack.Speakers took the opportunity to talk about the recent nuclear crisis in Fukushima, where a meltdown at a nuclear plant after an earthquake in March spun the country into crisis.Prime Minister Naoto Kan said Japan must reduce its dependence on nuclear power.
