Man spent $23,000 on a hyper-realistic costume
(Web Desk) - A Japanese man reportedly spent 3 million yen ($23,000) on a handmade wolf costume in order to fulfil his childhood dream of becoming a wolf.
Last year, Zeppet, Japanese special effects and modelling company, made international headlines when it revealed that it had created a special dog suit for a client who had always wanted to live like a dog. The high-quality rough collie dog costume, which Zeppet claims was designed to adapt human anatomy to that of a canine, went viral on Twitter. That same company recently announced that they had received an even more difficult order from someone who wanted to live out their fantasy of becoming a wolf.
“Because of my childhood love for animals and seeing some realistic animal suits on TV, I dreamed of being one someday,” the unnamed client wrote on the Zeppet website. “At the final fitting, I was astounded to see my transformed self in the mirror. It was the moment my dream came true.”
The client reportedly paid 2 million yen for the realistic collie dog costume, which is a small fortune, but the new wolf costume is even more expensive, costing 3 million yen ($23,000). Nonetheless, the mysterious wolf-man appears to be pleased with his purchase.
“My order to ‘look like a real wolf walking on hind legs’ was difficult, to say the least, but the entire suit looked exactly like what I imagined,” Zeppet’s mystery client explained. “Not only did the specifications perfectly cover all of my preferences, but the ventilation slit for the wearer’s comfort and the devices that allow the wearer to put it on without assistance demonstrated to me that the designers paid close attention to the wearer’s comfort.”
The unusual project reportedly took the Japanese company fifty days to complete. Its employees “reviewed images of real wolves to discuss the smallest details” and how to incorporate them into the costume.
