MONACO (Web Desk) - Pakistan has not been in the news for a good reason for quite some time as the masses are bearing the brunt of inflation and high cost of living.
But one can find a silver lining on the murky horizon in one form or another. Come to think of it, one good news about the country is doing the rounds: the flag of Pakistan will flutter in the space as Namira Salim is all set to embark on her space journey to achieve the milestone.
She would fly from America on a spaceship for the landmark journey on Oct 5 and complete the mission.
She has earlier hoisted the national flag at both the North and South poles. Salim has also won many awards and achievements for Pakistan in the past.
Known as the ‘Collector of Firsts’, Salim would also become the first Pakistani astronaut.
She was launched as the first Pakistani astronaut in 2006 when she bought a ticket for a commercial space flight and then waited for 17 long years for this historic journey.
She has been working in the global space industry for the last 25 years and making Pakistan proud.
Salim has also experienced the adventure of skydive from the Mount Everest in 2008.
Born in Karachi in 1975, Namira Salim got her master’s degree in International Relations from Columbia University. She moved to Monaco, Europe in 1997. She also has interest in painting, poetry and music.
She has been working to promote space tourism in collaboration with the Virgin Group for the last 17 years.
