PTA reports fault in international submarine cable

Work is underway to fully restore internet services at the earliest, says PTA.

(Web Desk) - The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reported a fault in the international submarine cable but the authority has managed to provide uninterrupted internet service to users via alternate means.

According to the details shared by PTA, a fault has been reported in an international submarine cable, SMW4, operated by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) in the Indian Ocean. Some users might experience interruption in network during peak hours.

“A fault has been reported in the international submarine cable, SMW4, operated by the PTCL, in the Indian Ocean due to which some users may experience downgraded speed during peak hour,” stated PTA.

However, settling the matter PTA has also said that necessary measures have been taken by the authority to save users from facing the inconvenience of interrupted net service.

PTA stated, “However, alternate measures to provide uninterrupted internet services to the users have been taken on priority basis to meet capacity requirements including additional adhoc bandwidth in the system.”

Recently in a tweet the Telecommunication Authority has updated users regarding the situation, along with assuring that the network will be restored asap.

“Work is underway to fully restore internet services at the earliest. PTA is monitoring the situation and will continue to update on it,” said PTA.
