After Facebook, Twitter rolls out Lite version in limited countries
Twitter Lite app, which is available in 24 countries, can load faster on a slow connection
(Web Desk) – Twitter has rolled out its very own Lite version after its social media competitor Facebook did the same to target those areas where internet availability is low while expenses are high.
Twitter Lite app will work in several countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. The micro-blogging website has optimized the app for the developing countries for minimum data usage.
The app will be accessible in areas with expensive or limited internet access. It is able to load faster on a slow connection which is a plus point. The under 3MB app takes up less space on the smartphones and is more resilient on unreliable mobile networks like 2G and 3G.

Twitter says it has launched the Lite version of app in countries including Peru, Serbia, El Salvador, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, Tanzania and Venezuela. People in Algeria, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, Israel, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Malaysia, Nigeria, Nepal and Panama can also access the Twitter Lite app.
The move was taken after successful testing the Philippines. It is expected that Android app will soon be released all across the world. It has 330 million monthly active users in which 80% of the people access Twitter outside the US.
