Following their victory over Sri Lanka in the final of the ICC World Twenty20 2009 at Lords last month, Pakistan aim to carry that momentum into the three-Test series against Sri Lanka starting in Galle on Saturday (tomorrow) as they target fourth place in the Mobile ICC Test Championship table. Pakistan currently are at sixth place on 100 ratings points, one ratings point behind fifth-placed England and eight ratings points behind fourth-placed Sri Lanka. Flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who won the player of the match awards in both the semi-final and final of the World Twenty20, has opted to rest from the series. Kumar Sangakkara, leading Sri Lanka for the first time in a Test series, was confident his team had overcome both the tragedy in Lahore and the loss in the Twenty20 final and were ready to clash with Pakistan again. The two sides have played 34 Test matches previously, with Pakistan winning 15 and losing seven of those. Pakistan has only lost one Test in Sri Lanka, winning six and drawing five.
