LONDON (Web Desk) - Pakistani tennis ace Aisam Ul Haq Qureshi is thankful for a winning start in the men’s doubles at Wimbledon on Thursday in London.

The team of Aisam and Ukrainian-Kazakhstani professional tennis player Aleksandr Nedovyesov defeated the team of Australian player James Duckworth and American player Marcos Giron by 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 and 6-2 in first round.

Taking to Twitter, Aisam expressed his happiness saying, "Alhamdulliah winning start here in London at Wimbledon."


While he said that his next match for the second round will be on Friday. " 2nd round In Sha Allah on Friday," he wrote.

 

On the other hand in the men’s singles, defending champion Novak Djokovic reached the Wimbledon third round for the 16th time on Wednesday. Top seed Djokovic brushed aside 79th-ranked Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 and will face Serbian compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic for a last-16 place.

While Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz stayed on course to meet the six-time champion in the last eight by reaching the third round for the first time.

Alcaraz, just 19, triumphed over Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands, 6-4, 7-6 (7/0), 6-3.

Rafael Nadal tops the bill in the Wimbledon second round on Thursday. The two-time winner Nadal, hunting a calendar Grand Slam, was given a fright in his opener before finding his mojo against Francisco Cerundolo to win in four sets.
