Australian rider Casey Stoner took the pole position for the Italian MotoGP.

World championship leader Casey Stoner took pole position for the Italian MotoGP in qualifying. The Australian, riding a Honda, clocked 1:48.034 seconds with his final lap of practice at the Mugello circuit.American Ben Spies and Italian Marco Simoncelli will complete the front row for Sundays race. World champion Jorge Lorenzo was fifth fastest.
