The two match test series between Pakistan and the West Indies starts today in Guyana.
After winning five one day match series, Misbah ulhaq would be leading the Pakistani squad in the two match test series. The match is scheduled to start at 7pm according to Pakistan standard time at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Taufeeq Umar who was not able to participate in the two practice sessions due to a groin injury is expected to be included in the Pakistani squad. Fast bowler Umar Gul and middle order batsman Azhar Ali are also in the test squad. On the other hand, the West Indies announced their 13 member test squad beforehand. Among West Indian squad star batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul and all rounder Fidel Edwards are included. Pakistan has never won a test series in the Caribbean. Since 1998 to 2005, Pakistan has played six test series out of which the West Indies won four while two ended in a draw. In the last test series in 2005, West Indies beat Pakistan the three match series by 1-0. Collectively Pakistan and West Indies have played 44 test matches, out of which Pakistan has won 15 while West Indies have won 14 and 15 ended in a tie.
