Pakistan hockey team qualify for World Cup

Pakistan are the 13th team to qualify for World Cup 2018.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan hockey team have qualified for the World Cup 2018 notwithstanding their bad performance in Hockey World League where they finished on seventh spot.

Pakistan’s qualification was only ensured due to the results of the European Hockey Championship that is being held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. All four semifinalists of this competition have already secured their berths in the World Cup.
According to the rules of Fédération Internationale de Hockey (International Hockey Federation/FIH), the place in World Cup goes to the team with highest-ranked finish in the Hockey World League semifinals without having already securing the spot, which in this case are Pakistan.
India will host the World Cup next year from November 28 to December 16. Pakistan have become 13th team to qualify for the mega event by joining Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain, New Zealand and India.
On the other hand, Pakistan cricketers have also expressed their wishes to the national hockey team. All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez said, “Well done Pakistan Hockey Team & Federation to Quality for World Cup 18.Great effort & keep working hard , Pakistan zindabad.”
